The Jaguar XK is a two-door 2+2 grand tourer manufactured and marketed by British automobile manufacturer Jaguar Cars from 1996-2014 in hatchback coupé and convertible body styles, across two generations. The XK was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1996 and was discontinued in July 2014.. The first generation was marketed as the XK8, replacing the XJS and was Jaguar's first 8.

Before you rush off and buy an engine and gearbox, measure up the dimensions of the Daimler V8 and gearbox combination very carefully, because the body pressings which cover the bellhousing and gearbox are much smaller in the Daimler V8, than the Jaguar equivalent car (Mark 2 or 240/340) So if you want to fit a Jaguar XK six cylinder engine you will need to cut away the existing metal and weld.

The Mk2 was finally killed off by late 1967, although two re-branded versions - the Jaguar 240 and 340 - were then launched. The 240/340 interior was downgraded via the use of vinyl upholstery and poorer quality carpets in order to keep list prices as low as possible, but in every other respect this latest duo was a fitting continuation of the Mk2.
